Some Questions,
Some Answers.

We do a lot with all types of events. So here are the most common questions we get. But please do not hesitate to ask us anything!
Can we use our existing analog wiring when upgrading to a digital sound board?

In most cases, yes.

How do we reduce stage noise for a cleaner house mix?

Transition to IEMs (in ear monitors). However, do not go about this alone. Please hire an AV professional to help you along this transition to ensure success.

What is the average cost of a church sound system upgrade for a 300-seat sanctuary?

This can range anywhere from $50,000 to $150,000.

Can we upgrade our church's lighting to LED without replacing all the existing fixtures?

In some cases yes as long as the Manufacturer makes compatible retrofit kits. You may also need to upgrade the dimmer packs and control module in your dimming system if you have an older line-voltage dimmer rack.

How do we balance the audio mix for both a live worship band and spoken word?

If you do not have a separate broadcast mixing setup, we recommend setting the livestream feed off a POST-FADE stereo aux on your sound board. When setting all your POST-FADE levels on that aux, run your vocals about 5-7 dB higher than instruments to bring them forward. It's always good to add some vocal reverb as well to help widen the image of your sound on a livestream.

What is the best wireless microphone system to prevent interference during a sermon?

Investing in higher quality UHF microphones with an antenna distribution system is critical for success. It’s also important to conduct site-wide frequency coordination with RF spectrum analyzers. We can do this by...

  • Using a program like Shure Workbench to coordinate all frequencies.
  • Know what frequencies are being used at other rooms or buildings on your campus
  • Get the right system for your environment
How can we make our sound and lighting systems easier for church volunteers to use?

Simplifying workflow with modern technology is key in addition to ensuring you have a daily “simple” system that can run without operators.

LED Video Walls vs. Laser Projectors: Which is best for high-ambient light worship spaces?

This depends entirely on both your budget and what the conditions are. Many things factor into what would work best such as,

  • Budget
  • Aesthetics
  • Actual cost comparison between the two
What equipment is needed to start a high-quality live stream for church services?

Many different components are needed.  It is always best to consult with an expert who can guide you in the right direction. Some things to consider when making this decision are...

  • Budget
  • Expectations
  • Resources available to operate the gear

How do we use Acoustic Treatment and Digital Signal Processing (DSP) to fix echoes in our sanctuary?

First, we need to identify the source of the echoes and confirm that your existing DSP has sufficient processing power to address them. Are the echoes coming from the sound system itself, reflections within the room, or a combination of both? Once the source is clear, we can determine what specifically is causing the echo and develop an effective solution. How do we determine the issue?

  • Use an acoustic program like SMAART to gather readings in the room and balance standing & reduce reflections.
  • Ensure your sound system is properly time aligned.
  • Analyze the readings and determine if acoustic treatments are necessary.
